Ex Kinks members return to headline KinKs Heath Fest on Sunday 20 May for Unique Double Anniversary Celebration

Above from left to right: Dave Clarke, Ian Gibbons, John "Nobby" Dalton and Mick Avory who both played at The Kinks 1966 Birmingham debut at the old Ritz Ballroom

A rare chance to hear ex-Kinks members perform all their greatest hits in the intimate atmosphere of the Hare & Hounds will happen on Sunday 20 May to commemorate the 52nd Anniversary of The Kinks' Birmingham Debut.

The Kinks were one of the greatest and most influential groups of all time scoring hit after hit from the 1960's onwards until they split up in 1996.

Expect to hear all The Kinks' hits including “You Really Got Me”, “Dedicated Follower of Fashion”, “Sunny Afternoon”, “Lola”, “Waterloo Sunset”, “Victoria”, “Apeman”, “Days” and “Come Dancing”.

The evening concert will conclude a one day KINKS HEATH FEST that will jointly celebrate the 52nd Anniversary of The Kinks performing next door to the Hare & Hounds at the now sadly burnt down Ritz Ballroom and the debut there on bass guitar of John “Nobby” Dalton who will be returning to King's Heath as a member of The Kast Off Kinks.

From 3 pm to 6pm a Kinda Kinks Session will take place at Fletchers Bar on York Road with many fine local musicians including Alex Vann & Andy Thomas, Robert Lane, Jack Cattell, Dave Disley-Jones, Mr Apollo and Layla Tutt  playing their favourite Kinks songs.

From 7 pm the doors will then open across the road at the Hare & Hounds for an evening concert by The Kast Off Kinks.

The Kast Off Kinks are not a tribute band but a great line-up of ex-Kinks members:-

Mick Avory on drums and vocals who also played at the 1966 Ritz gig

John Dalton on bass guitar and vocals

Ian Gibbons on keyboards and vocals plus

Dave Clarke on lead guitar and vocals who previously worked with The Beach Boys.

Formed by Mick Avory to keep the music of The Kinks alive, the Kast Off Kinks regularly perform at major venues throughout Europe.

"All of the Kast Off Kinks have a long association with one of the most successful British bands ever and set about the seemingly bottomless goldmine of classic pop songs with ... unbridled glee"

(Bournemouth Echo)

“A full house, and a standing ovation. To anyone wondering about going, do not hesitate”

(The Stables, Milton Keynes)

“ A great night's entertainment … made up of both classic hits and album tracks”

(Sussex Express)

This should really prove to be a great night commemorating a key event in King's Heath's musical heritage.
